A new poll conducted by CNN/Time/Opinion Research Corp. puts Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama two points ahead of opponent Sen. John McCain in the state of Ohio.
The poll was conducted August 31 through September 2 with 685 registered voters in Ohio questioned by telephone.
The poll has Obama at 47 percent compared to McCain at 45 percent support.
The result creates a virtual dead heat with the margin of error at +/- 3.3 percentage points.
McCain leads among men by 49 percent to Obama's 43 percent, but Obama pulls ahead among women 51 percent to 42 percent.
Among whites, McCain is up 53 percent compared with Obama's 39 percent. McCain also leads among seniors age 65 plus 57 percent to 36 percent.
Obama takes in the under age 50 demographic 52 percent to McCain's 39.
Among those making less that $50,000 per year, Obama is ahead 51 percent to 40 percent for McCain. Among those making over $50,000, McCain has 50 percent support compared to Obama's 45 percent.
The National Journal calculated that Barack Obama spent $7.90 for every vote he received in Ohio, while John McCain spent just $5.80. ... >
