Ohio Treasurer Richard Cordray had been seeking backing from Ohio's law enforcement agencies, and he appears to be racking it up. Last Friday, Cordray got an endorsement from Ohio's Fraternal Order of Police. Cordray had been openly courting the group for support. On Monday, Cordray began touting endorsements from two other law enforcement organizations, the Toledo Police Patrolman's Association and the Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association. Following those developments, the Toledo Police Patrolman's Association, with 538 members told Cordray, "We anticipate that your energy and dedication will certainly continue to be a positive asset as you serve your constituents." The Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association, which represents over 7,000 law enforcement officers in the state, wrote: "We acknowledge your experience and dedication and appreciate your proven support of law enforcement officers in the State of Ohio." Cordray is running against Republican Mike Crites for the Attorney General position to fill out the term of former Attorney General Marc Dann, who resigned amidst scandal in May.
