Ohio Republicans going after Biden for saying Delaware Blue Hens would ‘kick Ohio State’s a**’ in hypothetical football game

Joe Biden: Getty Images PhotoABC News' Political Punch blog reported that U.S. Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.), a former University of Delaware Blue Hen, told members of the current Blue Hen team at the Wilmington airport that they would "kick Ohio State's ass" in a match-up.
"I was out in Ohio," ABC reported Biden saying. "I told the folks in Ohio that we'd kick Ohio State's ass."
The University of Delaware and The Ohio State University are not slated to play each other in the 2008 season, or any other season any time soon. In fact, it's difficult to imagine a game between the two schools ever taking place. U. of Delaware is a NCAA Division I-AA school, whereas Ohio State is a Division I-A school. The subdivisions have separate championship structures and the match-up would be wildly uneven in favor of Ohio State, were the two teams to play.
Biden's enthusiasm for Blue Hen football can be traced to his own experience as a halfback for the Blue Hens as a freshman in 1961.
Jumping on the comment, Ohio Republican Party chair Bob Bennett issued a statement saying Biden was "taking pot shots" at the Buckeyes.
"Barack Obama and Joe Biden must really think they can win this election without Ohio, because they're doing their best to lose it with stupid comments like these," Bennett said. "Keep talking, Joe."
Biden just returned to Delaware after a bus tour across Northern Ohio.

Ohio republicans must think people from Ohio are stupid?
Does Ohio's republican leadership think that everyone from Ohio is so stupid that they would base their election decision on something as trivial as a jest about football. Biden was merely boasting about his alma mater, everyone does it, and there are many many more important issues going on in the election than a hypothetical football game. Republicans, grow up, if your going to go after Biden try to find some issues with the issues than to make up controversy over these silly statements.

When will the Republicans stop with all this feigned self righteous indignation? Does anyone really think that Joe Biden was serious? Does he really think that a Div I-AA school is going to kick a nationally ranked Div. I-A school?
Please. It just goes to show how intellectually bankrupt the Republican party has become.
Funny thing is...
Delawares starting QB was Ohio States 4th string benchwarmer last year. Maybe he meant Lacrosse.
Lose OH votes?
Whatever he might lose here in OH, he will get multiples back from knuckleheads in other states who don't like the Buckeyes.
Assuming there are any individuals here or anywhere else so shallow as to base their vote on the direction of this country based on this comment.
