Redfern talks up Franklin County in making case that Kilroy will pull off win in OH-15

Ohio Democratic Party chair Chris Redfern (D-Catawba Island) talked up Democratic numbers in Franklin County while making the case that Democrats are confident Franklin Co. Commissioner Mary Jo Kilroy (D-Columbus) will end up winning the race for Ohio's 15th Congressional District.

Redfern pointed to the performance of businessman David W. Robinson (D-Columbus) in Franklin County in his race against U.S. Rep. Pat Tiberi (R-Westerville). Robinson lost the race to Tiberi, but Redfern said that Robinson outperformed Tiberi in Franklin County by around 7,000 votes. Redfern said this bodes well for Kilroy.

About 300 votes currently separate Kilroy from opponent state Sen. Steve Stivers (R-Columbus) in Ohio's 15th, with Stivers currently in the lead.

"With hundreds, if not thousands, of ballots left to be counted, we are confident that the process, as it continues to unfold over the remaining hours and days, will show that our hard work at the grassroots level, and the open-vote process, will push Mary Jo Kilroy over the top and we will win that particular seat," Redfern said.

Redfern said the ODP was very pleased with their efforts in central Ohio.

"We're delighted that we're in a position right now with the remaining votes to be counted that our candidate, Mary Jo Kilroy, will win that race," Redfern said.
