Schmidt camp warns Wulsin to 'correct false information' on financial disclosure or 'face formal charges'
By David DeWitt, PolitickerOH.com ReporterThe campaign of U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) is calling on opponent Dr. Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill) to "correct false information on her federal financial disclosure documents of face formal charges."
The campaign said that Wulsin has been required by law to file personal financial disclosure statements since she first ran for Congress in 2005. The Schmidt camp says there are "several inconsistencies in those reports with assets appearing in some and not in others."
"This is the third election that Ms. Wulsin has made an issue of corruption and cleaning up Washington, but apparently her words are nothing more than empty rhetoric," said Schmidt spokesperson Bruce Pfaff.
Pfaff said that Ms. Wulsin has violated the law and her oath in her own personal financial disclosure documents.
The Schmidt campaign said that a 1,100 acre farm Wulsin owns in Pike County suddenly appeared in a financial disclosure report this year even though she has owned it since 1993. The Schmidt campaign went on to say that "even though it appears to be a working farm, no income has ever been reported from its operation."
"It's time for some real honesty from Ms. Wulsin," Pfaff said. "More importantly, it is time for some honest answers. When you sign these disclosure forms you swear under penalty of law they are correct. That is clearly not the case."
The Schmidt camp said that Wulsin "has not, according to her discloser documents, held a job since 2004 when she left the Heimlich Institute; a claim she has also made in the media and on her resume, yet her financial disclosure filings list no income."
"If Ms. Wulsin did work for the Heimlich Institute as she claims, how much did she make and who paid her? It's the only job she has had in four years-surely she hasn't forgotten," Pfaff said.
"In an effort to be fair, we will not file a complaint with Federal authorities for 10 days," Pfaff said. "That ought to give Ms. Wulsin enough time to sort out what untruths have been reported and amend all of her disclosures. If she fails to do so, she leaves us with little choice."
Wulsin is challenging Schmidt for the second time for representation of Ohio's 2nd Congressional District.

I do care about the law. But as the spokesman for a U.S. Congresswoman, one would think you would care more about issues that matter, like the unprecedented financial meltdown happening. The dollar is being destroyed to nationalize private businesses, while you and the Wulsin camp exchange petty barbs about each other's tax records. There's enough socialism being forced upon us to make Marx blush! The Constitution gives the Congress very specific responsibilities, and one of them is to coin money and regulate the value therof. Please tell the good congresswoman to DO HER JOB!!
Why don't you try to debate your opponents, and show the voters why Schmidt has a superior philosophy vs. the other 2, and why she is right on the issues? You won't because you are devoid of any ideas. You represent a party that is a shell of its former self. Republicans used to be the champions of limited government, fiscal responsibility, civil liberties, and a sensible foreign policy. We argued against tax-and-spend liberals on principle. Instead of tax-and-spend, you now just spend. You're nothing more than liberals who love deficits and war.
Is this really your plan to rally the people of OH-2 to Schmidt? How desperate. How sad. Voting Krikorian tells those in power that we aren't going to put up with it anymore, and just because you have an "R" behind your name does not mean you control the monopoly on conservative ideas.
