UPDATED: Schuring camp accusing Boccieri of 'Youngstown tactics' in new video

The video features red title cards and the theme music from the movie, "The Untouchables."

It accuses state Sen. John Boccieri (D-Alliance) of using "Youngstown tactics" in his campaign against state Sen. Kirk Schuring (R-Jackson Township) in the race to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Ralph Regula (R-Navarre) in Ohio's 16th Congressional District.

The Schuring campaign is questioning the "intrusive tactics" of a "staffer hired by the Ohio Democratic Party" who "has followed Schuring to public events" during the race for the 16th.

"The man carries a camera and microphone and often invades the privacy of private citizens trying to converse with the Republican candidate," the Schuring campaign said in a release. "Complaints of this behavior at the recent Stark County Fair lead to the man's removal from the area where Schuring was talking with fairgoers."

Schuring campaign manager PJ Wenzel questioned the style of politics.

"We've had so many complaints from supporters that we felt we needed to film the intrusive behavior and show it to all voters in the district," Wenzel said. "It just smacks of Youngtown-style politics and makes folks in the district feel really uncomfortable."

Update:

Ohio Democratic Party spokesperson Alex Goepfert responded to the Schuring campaign.

"Why is Kirk Schuring so terrified by the prospect of Ohio voters learning about what he's been saying on the campaign trail?" Goepfert questioned. "Perhaps it's because he's spent his whole campaign dodging his vote in favor of the Taft Tax, the largest tax increase in Ohio history.  Or maybe it's because the last time Kirk Schuring spoke his mind in public, he stuck his foot in his mouth and trashed the residents of Canton."
