Gov. Ted Strickland (D-Lisbon) appointed Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory (D-Cincinnati) to the Ohio Commission on Local Government Reform and Collaboration on Friday, among others.
In a series of new appointments, Strickland announced Mallory would be part of the commission designed to develop recommendations on ways to increase the efficiency and the effectiveness of local government operations to achieve cost savings for taxpayers and to facilitate economic development in Ohio.
Strickland also appointed Lucas County Auditor Anita Lopez of Toledo to the commission, as well as Cleveland attorney Timothy Downing.
Mallory has served as mayor of Cincinnati since 2005. He had previously served as a member of the Ohio General Assembly for nearly eleven years, both as a state representative and as a state senator.
Lopez has previously served as recorder of Lucas County from 2004 to 2006 and she also had served on the Toledo Public School Board.
Downing has worked as an attorney with Ulmer & Bernie LLP since 1990. He had previously served as an associate at Rose, Schmidt, Hasley & Disalle from 1988 to 1990, and recieved a law degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1988.
