Boehner wants bailout disclosure

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-West Chester) is asking the U.S. Treasury Department and Federal Reserve to disclose the recipients of $2 trillion in government loans.

Boehner wants both institutions to comply with a Freedom of Information Request filed by Bloomberg, after the news agency reported that the treasury and Fed refused to disclose loan recipients.

"Real transparency and accountability are critical to the success of the economic rescue plan, and taxpayers have every right to know how the federal government is allocating tax dollars as part of the program," Boehner said in a statement.

Boehner is fighting to keep his position as minority leader. The bailout bill has been fairly unpopular among House Republicans, who voted down the first version in September.
