The campaign of U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) responded to an internal poll released by opponent Dr. Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill) that showed Wulsin within single digits of Schmidt in the race.
The poll of 500 likely voters in Ohio's first congressional district showed Schmidt beating Wulsin 41 percent to 33 percent. The poll was conducted by Momentum Analysis for the Wulsin campaign and had a margin of error of +/- 4.4 percent.
Schmidt chief of staff Barry Bennett said he found it interesting the Wulsin campaign would release a poll showing them down eight points.
"Her own release says that only 48 percent of the poll would ‘even consider' replacing Jean," Bennett said. "I guess 52 would not. If they believe their numbers I assume they are working on their withdraw speech."
Wulsin communications director Kevin Frank responded, "Forty-eight percent of respondents said they would either replace or consider replacing Schmidt, 16 percent said they didn't know. So a total of 64 percent of voters in the poll have not decided to re-elect Jean Schmidt."
Bennett also responded to the news that the DCCC will be running a radio ad in the district critical of Schmidt with regards to gas prices and energy.
In response to the DCCC's "media buy," Bennett said, "The total buy against Jean was 755 dollars. Almost as pathetic as the Wulsin poll."

Ms. Schmidt's difficulty with the truth
Ms. Schmidt seems to have a habitual problem of not getting the facts correct, from the information in her own bio., her inaccurate information about who is drilling oil and where, her statements that the treatment of injured veterans at Walter Reed were 'exaggerations', to her inept interpretation of these poll results. Only 36 percent said they'd vote for her, meaning the rest (or 64 percent) have decided that she definitely needs to be replaced or are considering replacing her. Further, only 50% of voters from her own party said they would definitely vote for her. Not exactly numbers to brag about in most people's opinion.
Unfortunately, Schmidt has had a tendency to be completely out of touch with facts and the needs of her constituents, including her votes in Congress against the GI Bill, Children's Health Insurance, Health Insurance reform, penalizing Big Oil companies for gouging hard working Americans with exorbitant gas prices, college loan and tuition reform, etc. I wouldn't exactly describe those votes as caring about the concerns and needs of the people she is supposed to represent. She has voted repeatedly to support corporate interests over the interests of average Ohioans. She's out of touch and needs to go. OH02 needs someone who is aware of the problems in the district and is committed to dealing with the issues of concern to working families. I say the person to best fix the problems in our district is Dr. Vic Wulsin.
The Other Dr. Death
Why won't Wulsin ever tell us the truth about malariotherapy? Why won't she ever tell us what her position on expanding America's supply of oil is? Why won't Wulson talk about how much she wants to raise our taxes?
Schmidt has voted to protect taxpayer dollars from fraud and waste. She isn't perfect, but OH-02 could have far worse representation in Congress...they could vote for Wulsin. Even that nutter Krikorian and his bogus polling company would be better for OH-02 than the Other Dr. Death.
Give Krikorian a chance
"...that nutter Krikorian"??? What would make you say something like that? Give the guy a chance and check out his website. He appears to be a true fiscal conservative, not some party hack like Jean Schmidt. I'm sure neither Schmidt nor Wulsin would ever consider accepting his challenge to debate him on the REAL reason for higher gas prices - the weakening dollar, which is the result of a poor fiscal and monetary policy. I doubt either of them can even spell Federal Reserve!!!
