Wulsin wants to provide accountability and personal connection to voters as Congresswoman

CINCINNATI -- Dr. Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill) wants to provide voters with accountability in their representation, and the opportunity to have her address their concerns personally if elected to U.S. Congress.

In the final days of the campaign, Wulsin has got the phone banks going, volunteers canvassing and is doing some retail politics herself in Kroger parking lots in Ohio's 2nd Congressional District.

Wulsin said the Ohio grocery chain turned out to be a great place to meet people on the campaign trail, and said she was receiving a positive response.

Wulsin said that the economy was still a big issue on people's minds, but being a doctor, voters also usually want to talk about healthcare.

Driehaus makes his case for change in Ohio’s 1st

CINCINNATI -- State Rep. Steve Driehaus (D-Price Hill) is keeping a busy schedule in the final weekend of his campaign for Ohio's 1st Congressional District. He's out on the trail doing retail politics, making contact with as many people as possible before voters head to the polls on Tuesday.

Driehaus said that many people he talks to are happy to tell him they've already voted for him.

"It's amazing to me the number of people who've already voted," Driehaus said. "It's tremendous, and we're seeing that all over the place."

Driehaus said the economy is still the dominant issue on voters mind and said change is what voters are looking for this election season.

Chabot confident, campaigning heavily, in final weekend of campaign

CINCINNATI - U.S. Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Westwood) in confident heading into the final days of his re-election campaign for Ohio's 1st Congressional District. His campaign office was bustling with volunteers when PolitickerOH.com caught up with the Congressman.

"I think we're in very good shape," Chabot said, talking up his volunteer force handing out literature, making phone calls and preparing mail.

Chabot said that as he hits the trail in the final push voters are still concerned about the direction of the economy.

"People are worried that we're heading into a recession," Chabot said. "And they want us to take action that avoids that, if at all possible. Or make it a less deep recession than we might otherwise have."

Obama’s Ohio for Change Campaign launches ‘Ohio Republicans for Obama’

Preempting John McCain's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, opponent Barack Obama's Ohio for Change Campaign announced the launching of "Ohio Republicans for Obama."

The effort was referred to by the campaign as a "statewide grassroots effort to identify and organize other Republicans unhappy with the past eight years of failed policies under George Bush."

As part of the launch, some Republicans were to join Obama phone banking efforts at some Ohio for Change offices.

The campaign touted support from such people as Gregory Fess, a fourth generation Republican in Columbus, whose great grandfather was a Republican Congressman and Senator from Yellow Springs.

Kilroy goes up with healthcare ad

Franklin Co. Commissioner Mary Jo Kilroy (D-Columbus) is up with a new ad about healthcare in her race against state Sen. Steve Stivers (R-Columbus) in Ohio's 15th Congressional District.

The two are vying to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Deborah Pryce in the seat.

In the ad Kilroy speaks of changing Washington's priorities to "make healthcare affordable for every American."
